How To Install spectrwm on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install spectrwm on Kali Linux.
What is spectrwm
spectrwm is:
spectrwm is a small dynamic tiling window manager for X11.
It tries to stay out of the way so that valuable screen real estate can be used for much more important stuff. It has sane defaults and does not require one to learn a language to do any configuration.
It is written by hackers for hackers and it strives to be small, compact and fast.
There are three methods to install spectrwm on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install spectrwm Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install spectrwm using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install spectrwmInstall spectrwm Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install spectrwm using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install spectrwmInstall spectrwm Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install spectrwm using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install spectrwmHow To Uninstall spectrwm on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the spectrwm package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove spectrwmUninstall spectrwm And Its Dependencies
To uninstall spectrwm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove spectrwmRemove spectrwm Configurations and Data
To remove spectrwm configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge spectrwmRemove spectrwm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove spectrwm configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge spectrwmDependencies
