How To Install spawn-fcgi on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install spawn-fcgi
on Debian 10.
What is spawn-fcgi
spawn-fcgi is:
Allows FastCGI processes to be separated from web server process :
- Easy creation of chmoded socket.
- Privilege separation without needing a suid-binary, or running a server as root.
- You can restart your web server and the FastCGI applications without restarting the others.
- You can run them in different chroot()s.
- Running your FastCGI applications doesn??t depend on the web server you are running, which allows for easier testing of/migration to other web servers.
There are three methods to install spawn-fcgi
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install spawn-fcgi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install spawn-fcgi
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install spawn-fcgi
Install spawn-fcgi Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install spawn-fcgi
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install spawn-fcgi
Install spawn-fcgi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install spawn-fcgi
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install spawn-fcgi
How To Uninstall spawn-fcgi on Debian 10
To uninstall only the spawn-fcgi
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove spawn-fcgi
Uninstall spawn-fcgi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall spawn-fcgi
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove spawn-fcgi
Remove spawn-fcgi Configurations and Data
To remove spawn-fcgi
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge spawn-fcgi
