How To Install smpq on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install smpq on Kali Linux.

What is smpq

smpq is:

SMPQ is StormLib MPQ archiving utility. This utility is designed for full manipulating with Blizzard MPQ archives. It supports extracting, appending, renaming and deleting files in MPQ archives. It also can create MPQ archives. SMPQ can access different types and versions of MPQ archives. It supports encrypted, compressed, partial and patched MPQ archives in version 1-4. SMPQ is free opensource command line utility written in C which uses multiplatform C++ StormLib library.

There are three methods to install smpq on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install smpq Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install smpq using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install smpq

Install smpq Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install smpq using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install smpq

Install smpq Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install smpq using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install smpq

How To Uninstall smpq on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the smpq package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove smpq

Uninstall smpq And Its Dependencies

To uninstall smpq and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove smpq

Remove smpq Configurations and Data

To remove smpq configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge smpq

Remove smpq configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove smpq configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge smpq
