How To Install smemcap on Kali Linux

What is smemcap

smemcap is:

Tool that can give numerous reports on memory usage on Linux systems. Unlike existing tools, smem can report proportional set size (PSS), which is a more meaningful representation of the amount of memory used by libraries and applications in a virtual memory system.

This package contains smemcap utility, which can be used to collect data on resource constrained systems without depending on Python.

The captured data can be processed by smem program.

There are three methods to install smemcap on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install smemcap Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install smemcap using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install smemcap

Install smemcap Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install smemcap using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install smemcap

Install smemcap Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install smemcap using aptitude by running the following command:
