Tool that can give numerous reports on memory usage on Linux systems. Unlike existing tools, smem can report proportional set size (PSS), which is a more meaningful representation of the amount of memory used by libraries and applications in a virtual memory system.

This package contains main tool which can also process data collected by smemcap.

There are three methods to install smem on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install smem Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install smem using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install smem
