How To Install sm on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sm on Kali Linux.
What is sm
sm is:
Screen Message will display a given multi-line message as large as possible, fullscreen and black on white. You can specify the text either when launching sm, or edit it while the program is running.
It is useful to send messages across a room, e.g. during an university lecture. For fast startup, it is recommended to bind it to a key in your Desktop Environment.
There are three methods to install sm on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sm Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sm using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install smInstall sm Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sm using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the sm package we can use the following command:

To uninstall sm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove smRemove sm Configurations and Data
To remove sm configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge smRemove sm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
