How To Install slurm-pam_slurm on CentOS 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install slurm-pam_slurm on CentOS 8.
What is slurm-pam_slurm
This module restricts access to compute nodes in a cluster where Slurm is in use. Access is granted to root, any user with a Slurm-launched job currently running on the node, or any user who has allocated resources on the node according to Slurm.
We can use yum or dnf to install slurm-pam_slurm on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install slurm-pam_slurm.
Install slurm-pam_slurm on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install slurm-pam_slurm using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install slurm-pam_slurm
Install slurm-pam_slurm on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install slurm-pam_slurm using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install slurm-pam_slurm
How To Uninstall slurm-pam_slurm on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the slurm-pam_slurm package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove slurm-pam_slurm
