What is slurm-nss_slurm

nss_slurm is an optional NSS plugin that can permit passwd and group resolution for a job on the compute node to be serviced through the local slurmstepd process, rather than through some alternate network-based service such as LDAP, SSSD, or NSLCD.

We can use yum or dnf to install slurm-nss_slurm on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install slurm-nss_slurm.

Install slurm-nss_slurm on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install slurm-nss_slurm using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install slurm-nss_slurm

Install slurm-nss_slurm on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install slurm-nss_slurm using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install slurm-nss_slurm

How To Uninstall slurm-nss_slurm on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the slurm-nss_slurm package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove slurm-nss_slurm
