What is sec

SEC is a simple event correlation tool that reads lines from files, named pipes, or standard input, and matches the lines with regular expressions, Perl subroutines, and other patterns for recognizing input events. Events are then correlated according to the rules in configuration files, producing output events by executing user-specified shell commands, by writing messages to pipes or files, etc.

We can use yum or dnf to install sec on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install sec.

Install sec on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install sec using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install sec

Install sec on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install sec using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install sec

How To Uninstall sec on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the sec package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove sec
