How To Install searx on Debian 11

searx is:
Searx is an internet metasearch engine which aggregates results from more than 70 search services. Searx runs as a web service and provides a web interface that allows the user to do a general search (aggregating results from google, bing, yahoo) or search for files (piratebay, kickass, torrentz), images (bing, deviantart, google images, flickr), IT (github, stackoverflow, Arch Linux wiki), maps (OpenStreetMap, photon), music (youtube, spotify, soundcloud), news (bing news, google news, reddit), science (arxiv, wolframalpha) social media (digg, twitter) and videos (youtube, dailymotion, vimeo).
There are three methods to install searx
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install searx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install searx
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall searx on Debian 11
To uninstall only the searx
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove searx
Uninstall searx And Its Dependencies
To uninstall searx
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove searx
Remove searx Configurations and Data
To remove searx
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge searx
