How To Install scrypt on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install scrypt on Kali Linux.
What is scrypt
scrypt is:
A simple password-based encryption utility which demonstrates the scrypt key derivation function. On modern hardware and with default parameters, the cost of cracking the password on a file encrypted by scrypt enc is approximately 100 billion times more than the cost of cracking the same password on a file encrypted by openssl enc; this means that a five-character password using scrypt is stronger than a ten-character password using openssl.
There are three methods to install scrypt on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install scrypt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install scrypt using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install scryptInstall scrypt Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install scrypt using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install scryptInstall scrypt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install scrypt using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install scryptHow To Uninstall scrypt on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the scrypt package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove scryptUninstall scrypt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall scrypt and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove scryptRemove scrypt Configurations and Data
To remove scrypt configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge scryptRemove scrypt configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove scrypt configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
