How To Install screen on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install screen on AlmaLinux 8.
What is screen
The screen utility allows you to have multiple logins on just one terminal. Screen is useful for users who telnet into a machine or are connected via a dumb terminal, but want to use more than just one login. Install the screen package if you need a screen manager that can support multiple logins on one terminal.
We can use yum or dnf to install screen on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install screen.
Install screen on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install screen using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install screen
Install screen on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install screen using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install screen
How To Uninstall screen on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the screen package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove screen
