How To Install scmxx on Debian 11

In this tutorial we learn how to install scmxx
on Debian 11.
What is scmxx
scmxx is:
SCMxx is a console program that allows you to exchange certain types of data with mobile phones made by Siemens. Some of the data types that can be exchanged are logos, ring tones, vCalendars, phonebook entries, and SMS messages. It works with the S25, S35i, M35i and C35i, SL45, S45 and ME45 and probably others.
You need a serial connection (either cable or infrared) to your mobile phone in order to use SCMxx.
It basically uses the AT command set published by Siemens (with some other, additional resources).
There are three methods to install scmxx
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install scmxx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install scmxx
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install scmxx

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install scmxx
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install scmxx
Install scmxx Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install scmxx
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install scmxx
How To Uninstall scmxx on Debian 11
To uninstall only the scmxx
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove scmxx
Uninstall scmxx And Its Dependencies
To uninstall scmxx
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove scmxx
Remove scmxx Configurations and Data
To remove scmxx
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge scmxx
Remove scmxx configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
