How To Install scipy on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install scipy
on CentOS 7.
What is scipy
Scipy is open-source software for mathematics, science, and engineering. The core library is NumPy which provides convenient and fast N-dimensional array manipulation. The SciPy library is built to work with NumPy arrays, and provides many user-friendly and efficient numerical routines such as routines for numerical integration and optimization. Together, they run on all popular operating systems, are quick to install, and are free of charge. NumPy and SciPy are easy to use, but powerful enough to be depended upon by some of the world’s leading scientists and engineers.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install scipy
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install scipy.
Install scipy on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install scipy
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install scipy
Install scipy on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install scipy
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install scipy
How To Uninstall scipy on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the scipy
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove scipy
