How To Install schroot-common on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install schroot-common on Kali Linux.
What is schroot-common
schroot-common is:
schroot allows users to execute commands or interactive shells in different chroots. Any number of named chroots may be created, and access permissions given to each, including root access for normal users, on a per-user or per-group basis. Additionally, schroot can switch to a different user in the chroot, using PAM for authentication and authorisation. All operations are logged for security.
This package provides translations for localisation of schroot programs.
There are three methods to install schroot-common on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install schroot-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install schroot-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install schroot-commonInstall schroot-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install schroot-common using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the schroot-common package we can use the following command:

To uninstall schroot-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove schroot-commonRemove schroot-common Configurations and Data
To remove schroot-common configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge schroot-commonRemove schroot-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
