What is scanssh

ScanSSH supports scanning a list of addresses and networks for open proxies, SSH protocol servers, Web and SMTP servers. Where possible ScanSSH, displays the version number of the running services. ScanSSH protocol scanner supports random selection of IP addresses from large network ranges and is useful for gathering statistics on the deployment of SSH protocol servers in a company or the Internet as whole.

We can use yum or dnf to install scanssh on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install scanssh.

Install scanssh on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install scanssh using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install scanssh

Install scanssh on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install scanssh using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install scanssh

How To Uninstall scanssh on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the scanssh package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove scanssh
