How To Install scalasca on CentOS 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install scalasca on CentOS 8.
What is scalasca
Scalasca is a software tool that supports the performance optimization of parallel programs by measuring and analyzing their runtime behavior. The analysis identifies potential performance bottlenecks – in particular those concerning communication and synchronization – and offers guidance in exploring their causes. Scalasca targets mainly scientific and engineering applications based on the programming interfaces MPI and OpenMP, including hybrid applications based on a combination of the two. The tool has been specifically designed for use on large-scale systems, but is also well suited for small- and medium-scale HPC platforms.
We can use yum or dnf to install scalasca on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install scalasca.
Install scalasca on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install scalasca using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install scalasca
Install scalasca on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install scalasca using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install scalasca
How To Uninstall scalasca on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the scalasca package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove scalasca
