How To Install sagan-rules on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install sagan-rules on Debian 9.
What is sagan-rules
sagan-rules is:
Sagan is a multi-threaded, real time system- and event-log monitoring system, but with a twist. Sagan uses a ??Snort?? like rule set for detecting malicious events happening on your network and/or computer systems. If Sagan detects a potentially bad event, that event can be stored to a Snort database (MySQL/PostgreSQL), send it to a SIEM tool like Prelude, or send an email.
This package provides the rules for Sagan.
There are three methods to install sagan-rules on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sagan-rules Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sagan-rules using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sagan-rules
Install sagan-rules Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sagan-rules using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sagan-rules
Install sagan-rules Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
