How To Install rygel-tracker on Ubuntu 18.04

What is rygel-tracker
rygel-tracker is:
Rygel is a home media solution that allows you to easily share audio, video and pictures, and control of media player on your home network. In technical terms it is both a UPnP AV MediaServer and MediaRenderer implemented through a plug-in mechanism. Interoperability with other devices in the market is achieved by conformance to very strict requirements of DLNA and on the fly conversion of media to format that client devices are capable of handling.
This package provides a MediaServer plugin that exports user’s media contents known to Tracker (http://projects.gnome.org/tracker).
There are three methods to install rygel-tracker on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rygel-tracker Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rygel-tracker using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rygel-tracker
Install rygel-tracker Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rygel-tracker using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rygel-tracker
Install rygel-tracker Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rygel-tracker using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rygel-tracker
How To Uninstall rygel-tracker on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the rygel-tracker package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rygel-tracker
Uninstall rygel-tracker And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rygel-tracker and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rygel-tracker
Remove rygel-tracker Configurations and Data
To remove rygel-tracker configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rygel-tracker
Remove rygel-tracker configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rygel-tracker configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rygel-tracker
