How To Install rygel-playbin on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is rygel-playbin
rygel-playbin is:
Rygel is a home media solution that allows you to easily share audio, video and pictures, and control of media player on your home network. In technical terms it is both a UPnP AV MediaServer and MediaRenderer implemented through a plug-in mechanism. Interoperability with other devices in the market is achieved by conformance to very strict requirements of DLNA and on the fly conversion of media to format that client devices are capable of handling.
This package contains the Playbin plugin which is a MediaRenderer plugin. With this installed Rygel can render (view/play) media locally from other network resources (MediaServers) through GStreamer playbin2.
There are three methods to install rygel-playbin
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rygel-playbin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rygel-playbin
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rygel-playbin
Install rygel-playbin Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rygel-playbin
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rygel-playbin
Install rygel-playbin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rygel-playbin
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rygel-playbin
How To Uninstall rygel-playbin on Debian 9
To uninstall only the rygel-playbin
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rygel-playbin
Uninstall rygel-playbin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rygel-playbin
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rygel-playbin
Remove rygel-playbin Configurations and Data
To remove rygel-playbin
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rygel-playbin
Remove rygel-playbin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rygel-playbin
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rygel-playbin
