How To Install rxvt-unicode on Debian 10

on Debian 10.
What is rxvt-unicode
rxvt-unicode is:
rxvt-unicode is a modern, Unicode-aware color xterm replacement that uses significantly less memory than a conventional xterm and many other Unicode supporting terminal emulators.
It supports using multiple fonts at the same time, including Xft fonts, and client-server technology to reduce memory consumption when using multiple windows.
This package is configured with 256-color support, and TERM set to “rxvt-unicode-256color”. Any other systems you log into must have this terminfo entry installed!
There are three methods to install rxvt-unicode
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rxvt-unicode Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rxvt-unicode
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rxvt-unicode

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rxvt-unicode
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rxvt-unicode
Install rxvt-unicode Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rxvt-unicode
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rxvt-unicode
How To Uninstall rxvt-unicode on Debian 10
To uninstall only the rxvt-unicode
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rxvt-unicode
Uninstall rxvt-unicode And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rxvt-unicode
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rxvt-unicode
Remove rxvt-unicode Configurations and Data
To remove rxvt-unicode
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rxvt-unicode
