How To Install rubygem-daemons on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install rubygem-daemons
on CentOS 7.
What is rubygem-daemons
Daemons provides an easy way to wrap existing ruby scripts (for example a self-written server) to be run as a daemon and to be controlled by simple start/stop/restart commands. You can also call blocks as daemons and control them from the parent or just daemonize the current process. Besides this basic functionality, daemons offers many advanced features like exception backtracing and logging (in case your ruby script crashes) and monitoring and automatic restarting of your processes if they crash.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install rubygem-daemons
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install rubygem-daemons.
Install rubygem-daemons on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install rubygem-daemons
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install rubygem-daemons
Install rubygem-daemons on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install rubygem-daemons
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install rubygem-daemons
How To Uninstall rubygem-daemons on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the rubygem-daemons
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove rubygem-daemons
