How To Install ruby-tioga on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is ruby-tioga
ruby-tioga is:
Tioga is a blend of PDF, pdfTex and ruby into a library to make scientific graphs of high quality. It is fairly complete and extensive, and comes with examples and (online) complete documentation.
Tioga is useful for scripting the generation of graphs, and comes with a configuration file for irb for interactive plotting of pictures.
A PDF viewer is strongly recommended if you want to make use of the tioga script, a wrapper around some of the library functionalities.
There are three methods to install ruby-tioga
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-tioga Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-tioga
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install ruby-tioga

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-tioga
using apt

sudo apt -y install ruby-tioga
Install ruby-tioga Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-tioga
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-tioga
How To Uninstall ruby-tioga on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the ruby-tioga
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-tioga
Uninstall ruby-tioga And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-tioga
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-tioga
Remove ruby-tioga Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-tioga
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-tioga
