How To Install ruby-slim on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ruby-slim on Kali Linux.
What is ruby-slim
ruby-slim is:
Slim is a template language whose goal is to reduce the view syntax to the essential parts without becoming cryptic.
A short list of the features:
- elegant syntax: short syntax without closing tags, HTML style mode with closing tags and configurable shortcut tags
- automatic HTML escaping and support for Rails’
html_safe? - highly configurable and extendable via plugins: logic less mode similar to Mustache and translator/I18n support among others.
- high performance: comparable speed to ERB and streaming support in Rails
- supported by all major frameworks (Rails, Sinatra, …)
- full Unicode support for tags and attributes on Ruby 1.9
- embedded engines like Markdown and Textile
There are three methods to install ruby-slim on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-slim Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ruby-slim using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-slimInstall ruby-slim Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ruby-slim using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-slimInstall ruby-slim Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ruby-slim using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-slimHow To Uninstall ruby-slim on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ruby-slim package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-slimUninstall ruby-slim And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-slim and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-slimRemove ruby-slim Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-slim configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-slimRemove ruby-slim configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ruby-slim configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-slimDependencies
