How To Install ruby-sidekiq on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install ruby-sidekiq
on Kali Linux.
What is ruby-sidekiq
ruby-sidekiq is:
Sidekiq uses threads to handle many jobs at the same time in the same process. It does not require Rails but will integrate tightly with Rails 3/4 to make background processing dead simple.
Sidekiq is compatible with Resque. It uses the exact same message format as Resque so it can integrate into an existing Resque processing farm.
You can have Sidekiq and Resque run side-by-side at the same time and use the Resque client to enqueue jobs in Redis to be processed by Sidekiq.
There are three methods to install ruby-sidekiq
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-sidekiq Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-sidekiq
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-sidekiq
Install ruby-sidekiq Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-sidekiq
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-sidekiq
Install ruby-sidekiq Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-sidekiq
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-sidekiq
How To Uninstall ruby-sidekiq on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ruby-sidekiq
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-sidekiq
Uninstall ruby-sidekiq And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-sidekiq
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-sidekiq
Remove ruby-sidekiq Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-sidekiq
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-sidekiq
Remove ruby-sidekiq configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ruby-sidekiq
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-sidekiq
