What is ruby-pcaprub

ruby-pcaprub is:

libpcap (Packet CAPture) provides a portable framework for low-level network monitoring. Applications include network statistics collection, security monitoring, network debugging, etc.

pcaprub provide a consistent interface for using libcap in Ruby.

It does not provide packet processing functionality, only the interface for capturing packets, and passing yielding those packets.

There are three methods to install ruby-pcaprub on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ruby-pcaprub Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-pcaprub using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
