How To Install ruby-minitar on Debian 9

What is ruby-minitar
ruby-minitar is:
Archive::Tar::Minitar is a pure-Ruby library and command-line utility that provides the ability to deal with POSIX tar(1) archive files.
The implementation is based heavily on Mauricio Ferna’ndez’s implementation in rpa-base, but has been reorganised to promote reuse in other projects.
There are three methods to install ruby-minitar
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-minitar Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-minitar
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-minitar

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-minitar
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-minitar
Install ruby-minitar Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-minitar
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-minitar
How To Uninstall ruby-minitar on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ruby-minitar
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-minitar
Uninstall ruby-minitar And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-minitar
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-minitar
Remove ruby-minitar Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-minitar
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-minitar
Remove ruby-minitar configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
