How To Install ruby-hiredis on Ubuntu 20.04

What is ruby-hiredis
ruby-hiredis is:
ruby-hiredis provides a Ruby extension that wraps Hiredis. Both the synchronous connection API and a separate protocol reader are supported. It is primarily intended to speed up parsing multi bulk replies.
Hiredis is a minimalistic C client library for the Redis database, a persistent key-value database with support for atomically manipulating and querying data structures such as lists and sets.
There are three methods to install ruby-hiredis on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-hiredis Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-hiredis using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-hiredis

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-hiredis using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-hiredis
Install ruby-hiredis Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-hiredis using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-hiredis
How To Uninstall ruby-hiredis on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the ruby-hiredis package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-hiredis
Uninstall ruby-hiredis And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-hiredis and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-hiredis
Remove ruby-hiredis Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-hiredis configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-hiredis
Remove ruby-hiredis configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ruby-hiredis configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-hiredis
