How To Install ruby-haml on Debian 10

What is ruby-haml
ruby-haml is:
Haml (HTML Abstraction Markup Language) is a layer on top of XHTML or XML that’s designed to express the structure of XHTML or XML documents in a non-repetitive, elegant, easy way, using indentation rather than closing tags and allowing Ruby to be embedded with ease.
It was originally envisioned as a plugin for Ruby on Rails, but it can function as a stand-alone templating engine.
There are three methods to install ruby-haml
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-haml Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-haml
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-haml

using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-haml

Install ruby-haml Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-haml
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-haml
How To Uninstall ruby-haml on Debian 10
To uninstall only the ruby-haml
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-haml
Uninstall ruby-haml And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-haml
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-haml
Remove ruby-haml Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-haml
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-haml
