How To Install ruby-grit on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is ruby-grit
ruby-grit is:
Grit gives you object oriented read/write access to Git repositories via Ruby. The main goals are stability and performance. To this end, some of the interactions with Git repositories are done by shelling out to the system’s git command, and other interactions are done with pure Ruby reimplementations of core Git functionality. This choice, however, is transparent to end users, and you need not know which method is being used.
This software was developed to power GitHub, and should be considered production ready.

There are three methods to install ruby-grit
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-grit Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-grit
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-grit
Install ruby-grit Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-grit
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-grit
Install ruby-grit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-grit
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-grit
How To Uninstall ruby-grit on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ruby-grit
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-grit
Uninstall ruby-grit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-grit
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-grit
Remove ruby-grit Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-grit
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-grit
Remove ruby-grit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ruby-grit
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-grit
