How To Install ruby-ffi-rzmq on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install ruby-ffi-rzmq on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is ruby-ffi-rzmq
ruby-ffi-rzmq is:
ØMQ is a library which extends the standard socket interfaces with features traditionally provided by specialised messaging middleware products.
ØMQ sockets provide an abstraction of asynchronous message queues, multiple messaging patterns, message filtering (subscriptions), seamless access to multiple transport protocols and more.
This module wraps ØMQ using Ruby FFI (foreign function interface). It is a pure Ruby wrapper so it can be used with any Ruby runtime that supports FFI, including MRI, Rubinius and JRuby.
There are three methods to install ruby-ffi-rzmq on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-ffi-rzmq Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-ffi-rzmq using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-ffi-rzmq
Install ruby-ffi-rzmq Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-ffi-rzmq using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-ffi-rzmq
Install ruby-ffi-rzmq Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-ffi-rzmq using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-ffi-rzmq
How To Uninstall ruby-ffi-rzmq on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the ruby-ffi-rzmq package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-ffi-rzmq
Uninstall ruby-ffi-rzmq And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-ffi-rzmq and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-ffi-rzmq
Remove ruby-ffi-rzmq Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-ffi-rzmq configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-ffi-rzmq
Remove ruby-ffi-rzmq configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ruby-ffi-rzmq configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-ffi-rzmq
