How To Install ruby-barby on Debian 9

What is ruby-barby

This is a pure-Ruby library for generating various kinds of barcodes, including all the standard 1D and 2D barcodes, and meant to be easily extensible.
Barby separates the concerns of barcode generation and graphical representations, so not only the barcodes’ format can be extended, but also the way they are output.
There are three methods to install ruby-barby
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-barby Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-barby
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-barby

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-barby
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-barby
Install ruby-barby Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-barby
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-barby
How To Uninstall ruby-barby on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ruby-barby
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-barby
Uninstall ruby-barby And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-barby
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-barby
Remove ruby-barby Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-barby
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-barby
