This Ruby library contains essential backports that enable many of the nice features of Ruby 1.8.7 up to 2.0.0 for earlier versions.

  • can be implemented in pure Ruby (no C extensions),
  • must pass RubySpec.

Install ruby-backports Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-backports using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-backports

To uninstall only the ruby-backports package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ruby-backports

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-backports
