How To Install ruby-amqp on Debian 10

on Debian 10.
What is ruby-amqp
ruby-amqp is:
AMQP is an open standard for messaging middleware that emphasizes interoperability between different technologies (for example, Java, Ruby, Python, .NET, Node.js, Erlang, C and so on).
Key features of AMQP are very flexible yet simple routing and binary protocol efficiency. AMQP supports many sophisticated features, for example, message acknowledgements, returning of messages to producer, redelivery of messages that couldn’t be processed, load balancing between message consumers and so on.
This package contains a ruby client for AMQP.
There are three methods to install ruby-amqp
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-amqp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-amqp
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ruby-amqp

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-amqp
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ruby-amqp
Install ruby-amqp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-amqp
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-amqp
How To Uninstall ruby-amqp on Debian 10
To uninstall only the ruby-amqp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-amqp
Uninstall ruby-amqp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-amqp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-amqp
Remove ruby-amqp Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-amqp
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-amqp
