How To Install rsplib-services on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install rsplib-services on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is rsplib-services
rsplib-services is:
Reliable Server Pooling (RSerPool) is the IETF’s standard (RFC 5351 to RFC 5356) for a lightweight server pool and session management framework. It provides highly available pool management (that is registration handling and load distribution/balancing) by components called Registrar and a client-side/server-side API for accessing the service of a pool.
This package provides the rsplib RSerPool example services: Echo, Discard, Daytime, CharGen, CalcApp, FractalGenerator and ScriptingService.
There are three methods to install rsplib-services on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rsplib-services Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rsplib-services using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rsplib-services
Install rsplib-services Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rsplib-services using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rsplib-services
Install rsplib-services Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rsplib-services using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rsplib-services
How To Uninstall rsplib-services on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the rsplib-services package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rsplib-services
Uninstall rsplib-services And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rsplib-services and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rsplib-services
Remove rsplib-services Configurations and Data
To remove rsplib-services configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rsplib-services
Remove rsplib-services configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rsplib-services configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rsplib-services
