How To Install rpm on AlmaLinux 8

on AlmaLinux 8.
What is rpm
The RPM Package Manager (RPM) is a powerful command line driven package management system capable of installing, uninstalling, verifying, querying, and updating software packages. Each software package consists of an archive of files along with information about the package like its version, a description, etc.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install rpm
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install rpm.
Install rpm on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install rpm
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install rpm
Install rpm on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install rpm
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install rpm
How To Uninstall rpm on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the rpm
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove rpm
