How To Install rplay-contrib on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install rplay-contrib on Kali Linux.
What is rplay-contrib
rplay-contrib is:
Contains mailsounds and Mailsounds each of which can be used to play sounds on a system when new mail arrives.
RPlay allows sounds to be played to and from local and remote Unix systems. Sounds can be played with or without sending audio data over the network using either UDP or TCP/IP. RPlay audio servers can be configured to share sound files with each other.
Support for RPlay is included in several applications. These include xpilot, xlockmore, xboing, fvwm, and ctwm.
There are three methods to install rplay-contrib on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rplay-contrib Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install rplay-contrib using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rplay-contribInstall rplay-contrib Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install rplay-contrib using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install rplay-contrib using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rplay-contribHow To Uninstall rplay-contrib on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the rplay-contrib package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rplay-contribUninstall rplay-contrib And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rplay-contrib and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rplay-contribRemove rplay-contrib Configurations and Data
To remove rplay-contrib configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rplay-contribRemove rplay-contrib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rplay-contrib configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rplay-contribDependencies
