What is root-r

ROOT R is an interface in ROOT to call R functions using an R C++ interface. This interface opens the possibility in ROOT to use the very large set of mathematical and statistical tools provided by R. With ROOT R you can perform a conversion from ROOT’s C++ objects to R’s objects, transform the returned R objects into ROOT’s C++ objects, then the R functionality can be used directly for statistical studies in ROOT.

We can use yum or dnf to install root-r on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install root-r.

Install root-r on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install root-r using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install root-r

Install root-r on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install root-r using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install root-r

How To Uninstall root-r on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the root-r package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove root-r
