In this tutorial we learn how to install roger-router on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is roger-router

roger-router is:

Journal, Fax-Software and Call-Monitor for AVM FRITZ!Box or compatible routers. The following features are supported through plugins:

  • Call monitor, journal and address book
  • Use system as softphone or dial support
  • Fax transfer with CUPS integration.
  • import address books from the Fritz!Box, Evolution and Thunderbird
  • status icon and notification popus

A predecessor to the program was formerly called FRITZ!Box Fun (ffgtk). This is the GUI version of the program including plugins.

There are three methods to install roger-router on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install roger-router Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install roger-router using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install roger-router

How To Uninstall roger-router on Ubuntu 18.04

Remove roger-router Configurations and Data

To remove roger-router configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge roger-router

Remove roger-router configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove roger-router configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge roger-router
