How To Install rivet-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04

Rivet is a toolkit for validation of Monte Carlo event generators. Using a computationally efficient model for observable computations, Rivet provides a set of experimental analyses useful for generator sanity checks, as well as a convenient infrastructure for adding your own analysis.
This package provides analysis plugins of Rivet. Note that ATLASCone and CDFCones are not supported in Debian due to license issues of FastJet.
There are three methods to install rivet-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rivet-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rivet-plugins using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rivet-plugins
Install rivet-plugins Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rivet-plugins using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rivet-plugins
Install rivet-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rivet-plugins using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rivet-plugins
How To Uninstall rivet-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the rivet-plugins package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rivet-plugins
Uninstall rivet-plugins And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rivet-plugins and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rivet-plugins
Remove rivet-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove rivet-plugins configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rivet-plugins
Remove rivet-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rivet-plugins configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rivet-plugins
