What is rgxg

rgxg is:

rgxg (ReGular eXpression Generator) is a command-line tool to generate (extended) regular expressions.

It can be useful to generate (extended) regular expressions to match for instance a specific number range (e.g. 0 to 31 or 00 to FF) or all addresses of a CIDR block (e.g. 192.168.0.0/24 or 2001:db8:aaaa::/64).

There are three methods to install rgxg on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install rgxg Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install rgxg using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install rgxg

Install rgxg Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install rgxg using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install rgxg

Install rgxg Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install rgxg using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install rgxg

How To Uninstall rgxg on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the rgxg package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove rgxg

Uninstall rgxg And Its Dependencies

To uninstall rgxg and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove rgxg

Remove rgxg Configurations and Data

To remove rgxg configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge rgxg
