How To Install rfcdiff on Ubuntu 18.04

What is rfcdiff
rfcdiff is:
The purpose of this program is to compare two versions of an internet-draft, and as output produce a diff in one of several formats:
- side-by-side html diff
- paged wdiff output in a text terminal
- a text file with changebars in the left margin
- a simple unified diff output
It can also be used to compare ordinary (non-rfc) text files.
In all cases, internet-draft headers and footers are stripped before generating the diff, to produce a cleaner diff.
There are three methods to install rfcdiff on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rfcdiff Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rfcdiff using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rfcdiff
Install rfcdiff Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rfcdiff using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rfcdiff
Install rfcdiff Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rfcdiff using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rfcdiff
How To Uninstall rfcdiff on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the rfcdiff package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rfcdiff
Uninstall rfcdiff And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rfcdiff and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rfcdiff
Remove rfcdiff Configurations and Data
To remove rfcdiff configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rfcdiff
Remove rfcdiff configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rfcdiff configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rfcdiff
