How To Install resfinder-db on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install resfinder-db
on Kali Linux.
What is resfinder-db
resfinder-db is:
ResFinder identifies acquired antimicrobial resistance genes in total or partial sequenced isolates of bacteria.
ResFinder that uses BLAST for identification of acquired antimicrobial resistance genes in whole-genome data. As input, the method can use both pre-assembled, complete or partial genomes, and short sequence reads from four different sequencing platforms. The method was evaluated on 1862 GenBank files containing 1411 different resistance genes, as well as on 23 de-novo-sequenced isolates.
This package provides the database needed for resfinder.
There are three methods to install resfinder-db
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install resfinder-db Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install resfinder-db
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install resfinder-db

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install resfinder-db
using apt

sudo apt -y install resfinder-db
Install resfinder-db Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install resfinder-db
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install resfinder-db
How To Uninstall resfinder-db on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the resfinder-db
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove resfinder-db
Uninstall resfinder-db And Its Dependencies
To uninstall resfinder-db
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove resfinder-db
Remove resfinder-db Configurations and Data
To remove resfinder-db
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge resfinder-db
