What is repmgr-common
repmgr-common is:
repmgr is an open-source tool suite for managing replication and failover in a cluster of PostgreSQL servers. It enhances PostgreSQL’s built-in hot-standby capabilities with tools to set up standby servers, monitor replication, and perform administrative tasks such as failover or manual switchover operations.
This package contains repmgr files common to all versions.
There are three methods to install repmgr-common
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install repmgr-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install repmgr-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install repmgr-common

After updating apt database, We can install repmgr-common
using apt

Install repmgr-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install repmgr-common
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install repmgr-common
