What is renrot

Renrot renames files according the DateTimeOriginal and FileModifyDate EXIF tags, if they exist. Otherwise, the name will be set according to the current timestamp. Additionally, it rotates files and their thumbnails, accordingly Orientation EXIF tag. The script can also put commentary into the Commentary and UserComment tags. Personal details can be specified via XMP tags defined in a configuration file.

We can use yum or dnf to install renrot on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install renrot.

Install renrot on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install renrot using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install renrot

Install renrot on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install renrot using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install renrot

How To Uninstall renrot on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the renrot package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove renrot
