In this tutorial we learn how to install remmina on CentOS 7.

What is remmina

Remmina is a remote desktop client written in GTK+, aiming to be useful for system administrators and travelers, who need to work with lots of remote computers in front of either large monitors or tiny net-books. Remmina supports multiple network protocols in an integrated and consistent user interface. Currently RDP, VNC, XDMCP and SSH are supported. Please don’t forget to install the plugins for the protocols you want to use.

We can use yum or dnf to install remmina on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install remmina.

Install remmina on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install remmina using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install remmina

Install remmina on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install remmina using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install remmina

How To Uninstall remmina on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the remmina package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove remmina
