How To Install relion-gui on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install relion-gui on Kali Linux.
What is relion-gui
relion-gui is:
RELION (for REgularised LIkelihood OptimisatioN) is a stand-alone computer program for Maximum A Posteriori refinement of (multiple) 3D reconstructions or 2D class averages in cryo-electron microscopy.
RELION provides a GUI, several command-line tools in parallel (MPI) and serial versions, optionally with CUDA/GPU support.
relion-gui provides the graphical user interface without CUDA/GPU support.
There are three methods to install relion-gui on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install relion-gui Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install relion-gui using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install relion-guiInstall relion-gui Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install relion-gui using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install relion-guiInstall relion-gui Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install relion-gui using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install relion-guiHow To Uninstall relion-gui on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the relion-gui package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove relion-guiUninstall relion-gui And Its Dependencies
To uninstall relion-gui and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove relion-guiRemove relion-gui Configurations and Data
To remove relion-gui configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge relion-guiRemove relion-gui configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove relion-gui configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge relion-guiDependencies
