What is regexp

Regexp is a 100% Pure Java Regular Expression package that was graciously donated to the Apache Software Foundation by Jonathan Locke. He originally wrote this software back in 1996 and it has stood up quite well to the test of time. It includes complete Javadoc documentation as well as a simple Applet for visual debugging and testing suite for compatibility.

We can use yum or dnf to install regexp on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install regexp.

Install regexp on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install regexp using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install regexp

Install regexp on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install regexp using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install regexp

How To Uninstall regexp on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the regexp package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove regexp
