What is redhat-lsb

The Linux Standard Base (LSB) is an attempt to develop a set of standards that will increase compatibility among Linux distributions. It is designed to be binary-compatible and produce a stable application binary interface (ABI) for independent software vendors. The lsb package provides utilities, libraries etc. needed for LSB Compliant Applications. It also contains requirements that will ensure that all components required by the LSB are installed on the system. We can use yum or dnf to install redhat-lsb on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install redhat-lsb.

Install redhat-lsb on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install redhat-lsb using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install redhat-lsb

Install redhat-lsb on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install redhat-lsb using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install redhat-lsb

How To Uninstall redhat-lsb on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the redhat-lsb package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove redhat-lsb
