How To Install recode on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install recode
on AlmaLinux 8.
What is recode
The `recode’ converts files between character sets and usages. It recognizes or produces nearly 150 different character sets and is able to transliterate files between almost any pair. When exact transliteration are not possible, it may get rid of the offending characters or fall back on approximations. Most RFC 1345 character sets are supported.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install recode
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install recode.
Install recode on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install recode
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install recode
Install recode on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install recode
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install recode
How To Uninstall recode on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the recode
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove recode
